In my work, the body serves as a reflection of what lies within. While my investigations into life and form come together on varying conceptual planes, the expressive nature of the human body serves as the connective thread running throughout my work. I believe a figure conveys its own narrative, carrying a sense of what is fundamentally human: a mind; a soul; a life. Over all, I find the most fascinating element that drives me to work is the question surrounding which parts of our humanity are finite and what (if anything) is infinite. As an extension of this concept, I am also interested in exploring which of our individual mannerisms and characteristics are truly unique. In pursuit of these ideas, I explore my subjects through the act of drawing or painting, attempting to find an inner character and capture a fleeting record of an essential self.
