Charcoal, india ink, acrylic, and graphite on hand-cut paper
19" x 24" (unframed) 24" x 30" (framed)
This body of work is a comment on rape culture; it is intended to serve as a reminder of the undercurrent of misogyny and rape apologism that is pervasive in our society. These pieces specifically reference the Steubenville rape case of 2012 and subsequent reaction to the conviction of Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond in 2013. The text within the images consists of found dialogue from twitter that was posted in the aftermath of the trial.
